Question 1

How do I find my face shape?

Accepted Answer

Pull your hair back, face a mirror in even light and look at your outline: which is widest, your forehead, cheekbones or jaw, and is your face longer than it is wide? Or let the free face shape detector read it from a selfie, right in your browser.

Question 2

Which hairstyle suits my face shape?

Accepted Answer

Round faces look great with height at the crown and length past the chin; square faces with soft waves and layers; heart faces with fullness near the jaw; oblong faces with bangs and fullness at the sides; diamond faces with fringes and chin-length cuts; triangle faces with volume at the crown. Pick your shape above for specific cuts.

Question 3

Is one face shape better for hairstyles?

Accepted Answer

No. Every shape has cuts that frame it well. Oval faces happen to suit a very wide range, but the best style for anyone still depends on hair texture, density and the look they love.

Question 4

Does hair texture matter as much as face shape?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Face shape narrows the field, but your hair’s texture, density and growth pattern decide how a cut actually falls. That’s why two people with the same face shape can suit different versions of the same style.

Question 5

Can I see a hairstyle on my own face before committing?

Accepted Answer

A face-shape guide can’t do that, but MaxAura’s AI can: it reads your shape from your photo and renders recommended cuts on your own face with a virtual try-on, so you see the look before the salon.
